Celerina im Winter

Just because it has St. Moritz as a neighbour doesn't mean that Celerina pales into insignificance: on the contrary, the village is overflowing with variety and sun – and boasts the most beautiful view of the Engadin valley.

The oldest funicular train in Graubünden transports guests from the endlessly long valley plain up through “cloud nine": to the tobogganing and winter-hiking mountain, Muottas Muragl, with its five-star panoramic view extending over the frozen lake plateau and half of the Upper Engadin.

Like St. Moritz, Celerina lies at the foot of the Corviglia/Marguns ski area. That means top-quality slopes, state-of-the-art transport facilities and unlimited fun for all the family right on the doorstep. Until, that is, evening falls, the lights in the village are switched on and the innovative hotels invite visitors to small but select concerts.

Celerina has made a name for itself as the ”New Orleans of the Alps”, and every Wednesday celebrates with a programme of live jazz, swing and blues. Yet anyone seeking peace and tranquillity surrounded by nature can still find it – in a forest clearing next to the frozen Lake Staz.
