Piz Palü (3,901m)

Mountaineers regard the Piz Palü as one of the greatest treasures to be found in the Alps: anyone who has reached the peak (of happiness) here will rave about it for the rest of their life. Among other things, because this feeling of elation first has to be earned – with a great deal of stamina and considerable mountaineering skill. The crevasse-ridden access route across the Pers Glacier is demanding to say the least, and is only feasible with the aid of crampons, pickaxes and ropes. Further challenges are posed by the protruding rocky pillars and hanging glaciers. However, finally you are able to slowly make your way along the delicate ridge to the highest point – where you feel like hugging the whole world for joy.
