The Upper Engadin enjoys a dry, continental climate. Characteristics include low humidity and great variations in temperature between summer and winter, and between day and night. On fine days in summer, the Maloja wind begins to blow around midday and reaches speeds of 40 kph (25mph), bringing a refreshing coolness and creating excellent conditions for windsurfers, sailors and glider pilots.
