Activities - Engadin St. Moritz
Via Ferrata Piz Trovat
The first "via ferrata" (climbing trail) in the Engadine - on the Piz Trovat, 3,146 m - has been open since summer 2006. Starting a mere 20 minutes from the mountain station, the via ferrata gives the general public the chance to have a simple climbing experience while enjoying breathtaking views.
The route begins at around 2,850 m, and after following the west buttress, it leads you to a small gorge at around 3,050 m. You cross this on a rope bridge with the furrows of the Pers Glacier beneath you and the ice giants of the Bernina Massif behind that.
The track then takes you via the south-west wall to the summit at 3,146 m. Here, after traversing around 500 steps, one ladder and one bridge you see the Bernina Massif lying beneath your feet.
