La Punt Chamues-ch
The proud resort
The patricians of yesteryear built their palaces here for good reason: La Punt lies in a strategically perfect position at the foot of the Albula Pass, which once served as an important trading route. The former farming village of Chamues-
ch, by contrast, is situated at the gateway to the mysterious “valley of the chamois”, the Val Chamuera.
The people here are proud of the beautifully adorned farmhouses and patrician houses from the 16th and 17th centuries – such as the Chesa Merleda, with its bright white crenellated walls, the ornate Albertini houses and the impressive Chesa Sandoz.
The sun-blessed village stretches picturesquely between rugged peaks and fragrant pine forests, along the young River Inn and across the Engadin valley floor. This landscape offers a wealth of contrasting tours by mountain bike, road bike, on inline skates or on foot – for example, along the Engadin high-altitude trail. Families are particularly welcome in the village and love the leafy playgrounds and barbecue sites by the water’s edge.
