Our season lasts for 365 days
Spring is slowly awakening in Engadin St. Moritz. While it is possible to ski on the Diavolezza until May 22nd, in the Swiss National Park in Zernez the first hiking paths are already open. The off-peak season offers variety for both young and old – 365 days a year there is always at least one mountain railway or cableway in operation.
An abundance of spring sunshine, tranquillity, the first stirrings of the flora and fauna: the post-ski season in Engadin St. Moritz is an insider tip ‒ not only for those in search of peace and quiet.
Mountain rides 365 days a year Whether in the high or the low season, in Engadin St. Moritz you can enjoy a trip up at least one mountain every day of the year. In May, the Diavolezza cable car is open, transporting guests up to the Berghaus Diavolezza at 3,000m above sea level. A particularly pleasurable experience is a relaxing soak in the huge tub ‒ the highest-lying jacuzzi in Europe ‒ in front of the Berghaus under the blue Engadin sky. What’s more, the ski pistes on the Diavolezza remain open until May 22nd.
The first marmots in the National Park The Swiss National Park in Zernez, the only one in the country, is also well worth visiting in the spring. Some of the hiking paths are already accessible, the first marmots are venturing out into the sun, and all around, nature is slowly awakening. The National Park Visitor Centre is an attractive alternative if occasionally the weather ushers visitors indoors. Learn, experience, discover and participate: in the four interactive, hands-on exhibition rooms, the topic of the National Park and its nature is presented in a new and fascinating way.
Southward bound on the Bernina Express Anyone wishing to head off for the day to more southerly climes and on doing so observe the change of the seasons within a very short space of time can do so by taking a trip on board the Bernina Express. The journey leads past glaciers, over the Bernina Pass, and down into the Italian town of Tirano, where it is already summer. Since 2008, the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula and Bernina landscapes has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Mountain Railways included During the summer season, guests staying in Engadin St. Moritz can benefit from the special offer, “Mountain Railways included”. Some 90 Engadin hotels are participating in this package arrangement, which offers guests free use of the 13 mountain transport facilities, as well as in some cases the local public transport, from the second night of their stay. www.engadin.stmoritz.ch/inclusive_en
