In summer, the destination delights guests with its breathtaking views and the seemingly endless expanse of the lake-strewn plateau of the Engadin. It also offers pleasantly refreshing temperatures, ideal for active holidays in this spectacular natural setting.

New: holiday package for electric bike riders
Engadin St. Moritz is a paradise for cyclists and mountain bikers – and anyone seeking thrills in spectacular surroundings. More than 400 kilometres of marked routes and single-track trails lead through the Engadin mountains. The cable cars and funiculars also carry mountain bikes, extending horizons for riders and adding a host of extra options. Those who prefer an easier ride can scale the mountains on an electric bike. This summer a special new deal is on offer for electric bike riders. This includes hotel accommodation, hire of electric bike and helmet, travel (with bike) on cable cars and funiculars, lockable storage for the bike and further benefits.

“Mountain railways & cableways inclusive”
During the summer season, visitors to Engadin St. Moritz can take advantage of the “Mountain railways & cableways inclusive” deal. About 90 hotels in the Engadin participate in the scheme, whereby guests staying for at least two nights can ride the region’s 13 cable cars and funiculars free of charge – and in some cases, public transport as well.

Specially for families
Families, too, benefit from an attractive offer: the Family Summer Special, by which two children up to the age of 12 can stay in their parents’ hotel room free of charge. Five nights’ half-board for the whole family in a 3-star hotel, for example, costs from just 1,240 francs. The offer is available for hotel stays of two to seven nights.

Muottas Muragl: mountain hotel in new splendour
The panoramic mountain of Muottas Muragl is home to the first plus-energy hotel in the Alps. The mountain hotel, opening for its first summer season after renovation, is designed to generate more electricity over the year than it consumes. Muottas Muragl offers footpaths of all levels of difficulty, and so can claim to be a mountain for everyone. The views of the Upper Engadin and its lake-strewn plateau from the Segantini Trail are unsurpassed.

Hiking in an inspiring setting
From Friedrich Nietzsche to Giovanni Segantini, a host of writers and artists have found inspiration in the beauty of the Upper Engadin mountains. Anyone who appreciates walking and who welcomes stimulation for the mind and spirit as well as the body will enjoy experiencing the sublime beauty of the Engadin St. Moritz region on the trail of these poets and painters. Altogether, more than 580 km of paths and trails await visitors in summer – leading along lake shores, high above the valley floor, and up towards the mountain peaks. Travelling from one village to another is easy, thanks to the excellent public transport – which has some special treats in store. The Rhaetian Railway is famous among train enthusiasts worldwide, and provides one of the most thrilling rail adventures in the Alps. Spectacular rides offer visitors the chance to watch the majestic mountain scenery glide by, in the greatest comfort – whether on the Glacier Express or on the famous Albula-Bernina line, which was declared part of UNESCO World Heritage in 2008. www.engadin.stmoritz.ch/wandern_en

Events at the highest level
Every summer, the Engadin hosts a variety of world-class sporting and cultural events. The “Festival da Jazz St. Moritz”, for example, offers the chance to experience jazz in its original form: up close, in the intimate setting of a club. From 14 July to 14 August, the legendary Dracula Club stages 30 concerts starring a variety of Swiss and international performers. From 26 August to 4 September, the 4th St. Moritz Art Masters places the town in the spotlight of the international arts and culture scene for around ten days. Among the summer’s sporting events is the St. Moritz Match Race, which sees twelve teams of sailors, including the world’s best match racers, compete in thrilling duels on water. These head-to-head match races are held from 31 August to 5 September on Lake St. Moritz. A completely new event for the Engadin, meanwhile, takes place on 5 August, when the e-miglia rolls in to St. Moritz. The e-miglia is the world’s first green international road rally, featuring exclusively electric cars. For the first time this year, the Engadin is hosting the final stage of this event.
