Of course, you could also take the Furtschellas cable car. But the climb on foot is well worth making – and you will feel you truly deserve the treat that awaits you half-way up the mountain.

From the base station, the prepared winter walking path leads in big curves up through the snow-blanketed forest of pine and larch. After about 30 minutes it crosses the Prasüra piste, and in a long sweep brings you to an authentic old mountain hut with an astonishingly modern ambiance inside: the Kuhstall (“Cowshed”).

Here you can stretch out on the loungers, sun yourself, taste gourmet treats from the kitchen – and take plenty of time before making the journey back down.

Hiking time: 40 minutes
Level of difficulty: well-maintained path
Restaurant opening hours: evenings on prior reservation for min.10 persons, well-lit path
Parking: Furtschellas valley station
IMPORTANT! Bring your own toboggan (not available for hire)
