House Laudenbacher

La Punt Chamues-ch

The Chesa Laudenbacher is an old Engadine farmhouse dating from 1520, situated not far from the village square of Chamues-ch, and was inhabited by Andrea Petrin Laudenbacher, builder, politician and passionate hunter. From the late 1960s to the early 1990s, A.P. Laudenbacher had an unparalleled influence on the village of La Punt Chamues-ch and relied on traditional architectural patterns in the intensive construction of first and second homes. He died in 1993 and had no descendants, which is why the house was transferred to a foundation and can now be viewed by the public. Despite various conversions, important elements of the Engadine farmhouse in the Chesa Laudenbacher are clearly visible and some of them have been preserved in their original state. A particular gem is the well-preserved living room (Stüva) and a highlight is certainly the hunters' room in the former hayloft of the farmhouse. Here Andrea Petrin Laudenbacher has built up an impressively large collection of trophies with animals from the high mountains, Europe and Africa.
